This is the start of my project for the next year. I’ve been sitting in on ballet rehearsals, documenting as best I can the graceful movements, leaps, dips and swirls of brilliant color. I’ve seen the dancers work incredibly hard and perform brilliantly.
Now to take my gesture and “stick” drawings and make something as beautiful as I can from them, that is my challenge for this year!
This is my first painting, an oil pastel of one of the dancers after the performance. I was standing on the stairs looking down on the crowd and feeling as proud of them as could be.
